Star Wars Returns to Marvel

Marvel stopped publishing their monthly Star Wars comic after 107 issues in 1986.  Later this month Star Wars returns to the House of Ideas with the all-new monthly Star Wars #1.  Written by Jason Aaron and illustrated by John Cassaday, this series follows Luke, Han, Leia, and the rest shortly after the events of Episode IV, much like Marvel's original Star Wars series, only this time Jaxxon the is nowhere to be seen (Except for the Party Variant ).

Star Wars #1 Premiere Variant

As a comic retailer we received 2 copies of the Premiere Variant for Star Wars #1.  Why did we get 2 copies?  All retailers who opt in for the Star Wars Launch Party receive 2 copies of the Premiere Variant.  Theses variants are shipped directly from the printer, which means the envelopes they ship them in aren't exactly the best, so we get 2 with one acting as a damage replacement.  Luckily our copies made it to us with a minimum of damage.

Now, on to the story itself, is it any good?  Yes, yes it is.  Jason Aaron does a great job of writing the dialogue and situations that are consistent with they way they were portrayed in the Original Trilogy.  And as always John Cassaday's art is top-notch and clean.  The first story has the Rebels dealing with a mission that has gone wrong.  I won't say any more, you'll just have to pick up a copy (Or two) when Star Wars #1 comes out on January 14th!
